On January 22, 1978, NBC broadcast a three-hour television special, “50 Years of Country Music” and one of the acts featured that evening was Merle Haggard leading Bob Wills’ Texas Playboys.
The actual broadcast can be found elsewhere, but what you are about to hear is the rehearsal before the show. The location was Nashville, Tennessee. The audio isn’t super sharp, but it wasn’t meant to be heard by others.
The musicans play:
1. Ida Red
2. Faded Love
3. Roly Poly
4. San Antonio Rose
5. Rosetta
6. You’re From Texas
7. You Don’t Love Me But I’ll Always Care
8. Blues Jam Session
9. Out of Nowhere
10. Brown Skin Gal
11. Fat Boy Rag
12. Jammin’
I hope you enjoy it.
I have digitally remastered the original radio broadcast recording for speed, clarity and stereo effect.
