EP-36 This is a rare undiscovered recording by Bob Wills and The Texas Playboys on January 24, 1958. It was recorded during a KVOO On-Air Radio Broadcast from the Cain’s Ballroom in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Bob and the Boys are talking with the radio announcer and performing live on stage. The song they are performing in this video is “It’s The Bottle Talking”.
Leon Rausch was the last great singer that Bob Wills had in his band. After Bob Wills’ passing in 1975, the Texas Playboys regrouped and made Leon the band’s primary vocalist, although other members did vocals as well. At the time of this January 24, 1958 KVOO radio broadcast in Tulsa, Oklahoma, he had been with the Bob Wills band about six months.
Here Leon Rausch is doing a fairly new song in the Bob Wills repertoire, “It’s The Bottle Talking.”
What you are about to hear is a rare recording of Bob Wills and The Texas Playboys performing “It’s The Bottle Talking” live on stage during the KVOO On-Air Radio Broadcast at the Cain’s Ballroom in Tulsa, Oklahoma on January 24, 1958.
I have digitally remastered the original recording for clarity and stereo effect.
